‘Beautiful of life No:21’ by artist Pongsatorn Tipasatien is a sculptural work that explores the eternal themes of life and death with paradoxical and lavish beauty. The piece features a skull entirely covered in countless tiny crystals and gems, crowned with an ornate and majestic tiara. The white, crystal-encrusted skull creates a powerful contrast with the golden-toned gems used specifically in the eye sockets, drawing the viewer’s gaze. While the skull symbolizes death and transience, the lavish jewels and crown represent power, wealth, and eternal beauty. This contrast suggests the paradox that even death can be adorned in the most magnificent way, conveying a profound message that the true value and beauty of life may lie in something that persists even after physical decay.
