A Vision of Reality from an Alien World

Nutdanai Sirikes

Blending Street Sensibility with the Surreal — Hidden Realities Within the Familiar
Nutdanai Sirikes, known as “Stranger from Planet D,” is an emerging Thai artist who explores the boundary between reality and imagination through a world bathed in blue tones. His characters, often self-representations, appear in cities, seas, skies, and streets as if they are strangers from another planet. These figures symbolize alienation, hope, and fleeting moments of happiness, prompting viewers to ask: “Are you the stranger in this world, or is the world strange to you?” In his signature Smile More series, Nutdanai employs graffiti-inspired techniques and surreal compositions to depict the journey toward joy. His work gained attention at the 2024 Wet Floor Art Exhibition, where its refreshing yet profound message resonated with audiences. The blue hues in Nutdanai’s work are not mere backgrounds, but waves of emotion, and the tiny figures within represent our inner solitude and hope. His art ultimately whispers: “Even if we are not aliens, we all come from slightly unfamiliar stars.”
