Thai Artist Expressing Post-Pop Surrealism Through the 'Mon-Chanchan' Character

Fah'Jitaree Srisomboon

A World of Fairy-Tale Imagination Reflecting the Innocence of Children and the Underbelly of Adulthood
Fah’Jitaree Srisomboon (Jitaree Srisomboon) is a rising Thai artist who holds a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts from Mahasarakham University. She visualizes her ideas and emotions using elements of Pop Surrealism, channeled through her signature character, ‘Mon-Chanchan,’ which is inspired by her own identity. Mon-Chanchan, with its large, innocent eyes and doll-like, often bunny-like appearance, frequently incorporates mythical and profound symbols (e.g., traditional costumes, animal masks). This juxtaposition embeds complex emotions and social commentary within a fairy-tale-like image. Her work has been exhibited at various domestic and international art fairs, including the Mango Art Festival 2024, and she actively participates in group shows, such as the exhibition held at Vanich Gallery from January to February 2025.
