Because I want to be loved, I have to be the same (2025)
Siriwan Simingam
Acrylic on Canvas
50X60
As the title suggests, this piece portrays the internal pressure and contradiction of modern people—’Because I want to be loved, I have to be the same’—in a cute yet bizarre manner. The giant panda in the painting seems to symbolize an ideal appearance or public expectation. The girl sitting atop it and the smaller, panda-patterned creature illustrate an effort to mimic or conform to this dominant figure.
