‘Me and My youth’ by artist Sutee Lekpanyawat encapsulates the themes of growth and the separation of the self within a dreamlike and surreal landscape. Two figures sit back-to-back on a small island floating above the vast sea. One figure is a cold, metallic robot form with the eyes of a child, gazing forward. The other is a gentle, white human form, looking back as if recalling the past. These two entities symbolize the present self and the youthful self that has passed, illustrating the change in identity over time. They are seated around a single blooming daisy, which symbolizes lost innocence or the unchanging core of memory. Through the blue sky, ocean, and surrounding planets, the artwork quietly narrates an individual’s inner reflection and ontological journey within the vastness of the cosmos.
